Dark Color Maple Syrup (Grade B) from Crown Maple

We at madevegan are big fans of Crown Maple's delicious maple syrup . In terms of taste, maple syrup grade B (Dark Color) - thanks to its light caramel note - is particularly suitable for refining sauces and sweetening hot drinks such as coffee or tea. That's why we never want to be without it in our kitchen again!

This is how sweet maple syrup is made

During the harvest season, between February and April, when the thermometer shows a temperature above 0°C for the first time, holes are drilled in the tree from which the maple sap can drain. The maple sap is transported to the sugar shacks (also called “sugar shacks”) via pipes. Once there, it first has to be further processed before it becomes the delicious maple syrup we know today. In the next step, the maple sap obtained is purified. To do this, Crown Maple uses so-called reverse osmosis , a patented process in which impurities are filtered out . With the special production technology, around 80% of the water content is removed from the maple sap. This process makes it probably the purest maple syrup in the world.

Is maple syrup healthy and a sugar alternative?

How healthy is maple syrup and is maple syrup a real alternative to sugar ? These questions can be answered relatively easily: Yes! Maple syrup is a real alternative to sugar - but only as long as it is enjoyed in moderation . It can be used to sweeten and refine various dishes, desserts and drinks.

By the way: Compared to the normal sugar you know from home, maple sugar only causes blood sugar levels to rise slowly. This makes maple syrup particularly interesting for diabetics , who have a great alternative to refined sugar. At the same time, maple syrup - just like honey - has an anti-inflammatory effect . Unlike honey, maple syrup is completely vegan and purely plant-based, which is what makes it so interesting for us.

Maple syrup grades A, B and C

The degree of maple syrup provides information about when the maple sap was harvested. While grade A is usually obtained in the first two weeks of the harvest period, has a very mild aroma and is amber in color, grades B and C maple syrups impress with a strong taste and intense caramel notes . Crown Maple's Grade A Dark Color maple syrup impresses with its creamy richness, robust aroma and is reminiscent of toffee, nut butter and roasted pecans.
